Module Overview

Community engagement refers to the deliberate interactions between program planners or implementers and community members to foster collaborative dialogue and actions by identifying important information regarding the social determinants of health that affect the local community, and devise strategies for creating sustainable capacity. This module is designed to help participants work more effectively with communities in the context of one health events.

Module Objective

To provide participants with the ability to effectively engage with communities, local partners, and other stakeholders to help prepare and protect communities’ health before, during and after public health events, e.g rabies and COVID-19.

Module Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module training, participants will be able to:

  • Effectively engage communities in RCCE interventions
  • Build strong relationships and trust within the community for successful community engagement initiatives
  • Formulate socially- and culturally sensitive community engagement strategies and approaches
  • Create scenarios that depict community dynamics.
