Module Overview
This module is designed to equip learners with a comprehensive understanding and application of principles of risk communication through the application of risk assessment and management model. This module focuses on risk assessment, risk management and risk communication in the context of One Health concepts.
The module will equip learners with knowledge, skills, attitude and values in conducting risk assessment by identifying hazards, determining risk levels and appropriate risk mitigation measures; plan and develop appropriate programmes for communicating risk during One Health interventions.
Module Objective
The objective of Risk communication is to enable trainees to effectively communicate risk, using the appropriate principles, approaches and tools before, during and after an outbreak.
Module Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module training, participants will be able to:
- i) Apply knowledge and skills on risk assessment to characterise risk and utilise appropriate actions to manage risk.
- ii) Identify, map and profile at risk audiences and multiple stakeholders to be involved in effective risk communication.
- iii) Use appropriate tools and approaches for effective public relations during risk communication.
- iv) Apply knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to effectively communicate risk in the affected community to promote social and behaviours changes
